Kudos to the four-players: Mark Savage, Brian Richards, Peter Cho, Bryan George, Joe Blatchford, Ben Delgadillo, Dave Clement, Rick Smith and our host pro CC Cliver.

Thanks to all who helped keep the SCV Cup where it belongs!

Fall Update

Fall is finally in the air and it is time to get ready for Team Play 2009.

Our three foes this year are Sherwood CC, Hacienda CC and our old friends at El Caballero. All matches will be played consecutive Thursdays starting January 8. Sherwood has to play all home matches in February which changes our division schedule this year. Our first three matches will be on the road and our final three at home. January will be a very busy month.

THREEPEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Santa Clarita Cup will be played on December 11. It’s our annual clash against the Seoul Brothers and the Bankrupt Boys. It is a great event with 24 players per team which gives more guys a chance to play. Two in a row, do I hear three??

Last year we started “Team Play Thursdays” to prepare for the season. It was a great success and a lot of fun. So why mess with a good thing. TPT will start again on November 20. Same drill as last year. We will block out times starting at 11:30am. The shop will keep the signup sheet. Teams will be paired up and we play the Metro League format. It’s a great way to get back in the match play mindset.

After TPT on December 4 we will have the “official” team meeting at 5pm. Even if you are not playing that day please try to make the meeting. We will go over team information and rules changes for the year. If you are unable to attend please contact me.

In an effort to challenge our guests this year we have officially moved back to the blue tees. If you are higher handicap, white tee type, I strongly suggest that you get back there as much as possible before January.

Inspired by the blog efforts of Messrs. Cliver and Hertzing, I will give a go as well. You can find it at: http://valenciateamgolf.blogspot.com/ It is a work in progress and I am wandering through the tech wilderness, so please be patient.

And finally, I am happy to see our metro sexual host pro in residence is finally having a good week. After four straight losses, his beloved Auburn Tigers invaded the Ohio Valley Conference to beat up on the dreaded Skyhawks of the U. Tenn-Martin 37-20. AND he had his 15 minutes of fame this morning on the nationally syndicated Tee It Up Show on KSPN 710. Amazing what a free foursome will get you! Congrats to CC for not embarrassing us or himself in front of a national audience.

That is all.

Adios,

Team Play Summer Edition

Summer Greetings to all Valencia Team Dudes!

Thursday was the annual Metro League Captains meeting followed by a two man best ball at LACC. Your Captain and Doug Marshall of Bel Air ham and egged their way to a 62 net to take the $$.

Renovations are busting out all over the Metro League. Oakmont and Wilshire are out and are being replaced by Rolling Hills CC and North Ranch CC just for this season. LACC is shutting down in early February to work on the North Course and will play all matches on the South Course. None of the means anything to us since we don't play these teams until 2011.

The season will start the second week of January. Yardage devices are finally legal in the Metro League! Valencia Country Club will officially being playing from the BLUE tees with the first group playing the GOLD. All other rules remain the same.

Our draw this season is Hacienda CC, Sherwood CC and our old friends at El Caballero. Both Hacienda and Sherwood have recently refurbished their courses. We have to assume that El Cab has improved from the embarrassing course conditions they inflicted on us a couple of seasons ago. Following the brutal draw we had last year this group offers us the potential to finally break out in the Metro League.

And we cannot forget about the Santa Clarita Cup since it seems to mean so much to our friends across the street. I only have one thing to say: THREE-PEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So start/keep playing the BLUE tees and work in some match play games with your friends. I think our "Match Play Thursdays" helped last year and we will start again after the over seed. Last year was a good year. A few more points at Valencia vs LACC and our goal of holding serve at home against three of the toughest teams in the Metro would have been realized. This year it is time to win our bracket!

Keep it in the short stuff!!!!
