Life can be tough on the road...................................

VALENCIA 30 EL CABALLERO 66

2014........that will be the earliest date that any of us will have to set foot on that golf course again.

I'll make it short and not so sweet. We got our asses kicked. Then again, that score is usually the norm for losses on the road. It shows what a great effort the Hacienda tie was.

Four team points. That won't get it done. And it obviously didn't. There were a few instances of fight and tenacity. Kudos to RB, Delgadillo, Becker, Pieracci, Robb and a few others. We gave away lots of strokes and those players didn't back down. Let's move on and return the favor on February 12 at our place.

The road trip continues on to Sherwood......................... The last time we were there the course was not friendly to either team. Judging from the scores posted at their first two home matches it looks like more of the same. Some of you remember that on our last trip to Sherwood we were only a few points away from beating them. We need to concentrate on team wins. If the team wins, the
individual matches will come along as well. The lineup will be out Saturday night.

That is all.

VALENCIA 48 HACIENDA 48

It looks like the strategy of using lower handicap players on the road worked. (or maybe we were just lucky!)

Out on the road a tie is as good as win. It was a great day where every single point counted. A special shout out to all who clawed and scratched to the bitter end to get individual points when their team match was already over. This was really a TEAM effort.

Congrats to the temperate Dick Rai (73) teaming with Chris Chase for all 12 points. Also in the 12 point club was Greg "Seeing Eye" Collins and El Capitan. 11 points for Mark Savage and Tim Lawlor (72) and 8 points for Peter Cho and Bryan George. That represents 43 of our 48 points. Hacienda had four players in four different groups shoot under par net against our four other groups. Well done to Ben Delgadillo, John Gedney and Dennis Junker for scraping together the 5 points needed to get us the tie.

Next comes our good friends at El Caballero. Let's hope for better course conditions than our last trip. We have good core group of players and I will be working more guys into the battle. The lineup will be out ASAP.
